Employee Dishonesty Bond

Employee Dishonesty Bond is a surety bond that covers employers from losses from dishonest and/or negligent actions of their employees. Employee Dishonesty Bonds reimburse employers for losses from employee fraud, theft, forgery, and embezzlement of company's cash and other assets. An Employee Dishonesty Bond should be considered when a company has one or more employees entrusted with handling cash or other valuable assets. Employee Dishonesty Bonds often come in specialty forms, such as those covering janitorial services and pension trust fund managers.

Employee Dishonesty Bonds (also known as crime bonds) are utilized by merchants to guarantee money, securities and property against loss caused by employee dishonesty. This type of surety bond protects both your business and your customers from loss incurred by dishonest acts by your employees.

An Employee Dishonesty bond is written when a limit of $100,000 or less if desired. Coverage is written for the Employee Dishonesty Bond in two basic formats.

Coverage A is written similar to a fidelity bond, however coverage is only provided for employee theft. Coverage will pay for loss or damage to money, securities and other property directly from theft or forgery by an employee. With coverage being limited to employee theft only, the minimum premium is normally far less than fidelity.

Coverage B is normally purchased by a service business such as a Janitorial Company, House Sitter, Dog Sitter/Walker, etc. This policy provides coverage for theft of clients' property by an employee of the insured. Under Coverage B we can cover a business with NO employees. Under Coverage B a $100 deductible is automatically added as well as a conviction clause. This means that the employee would have to be convicted of their crime under a court of law before the bond will pay any claim related to that crime.
